Extended widget properties is a mechanism that allows developers to assign additional properties to widgets that are not available within Progress. We have provided many new properties that greatly reduce the need for additional code. We also provide a UIB run time window that allows you to assign these properties within the UIB.

Since these properties are stored in system files, rather than within the code, this allows for greater flexibility and easier maintenance of code (no recompiles are required upon changing a property of a widget). Also, developers can easily create their own properties by adding them to our system files.

• - All extended properties, unlike the UIB are stored in system tables, therefore maintenance of code is made easier (no recompilation required for updates)
• - System stores the relative path of every object in system tables
• - The developer also has the flexibility of adding additional properties in the system tables

System stores the property name, list of allowable widget types, possible values and their labels, unique flag and relation to other attributes
